Inadequate toilet and washing facilitiesA North Humberside building firm was fined for not providing adequate toilet and washing facilities for staff on a construction site. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) prosecuted Bryan Brown & Son, of Flamborough, Bridlington, after finding problems on the site which the firm then failed to remedy. Bridlington Magistrates Court heard a toilet unit was not plumbed in, and there was no water supplied to sinks in a cabin or adjacent toilet compartment at the site for a pair of cottages at High Green, Bridlington.

The provision of toilet facilities for a company’s staff is simple with Tensor toilet turnstiles, which will enable a firm to provide public conveniences to a good standard while generating revenue for the general day to day upkeep. The coin operated turnstiles are manufactured from graded stainless steel for ease of cleaning and maintenance. Other options are available – for example, additional counters to count the number of entries made. This provides a useful audit trail, so that management can monitor and arrange toilet breaks far more easily for the benefit of all parties.
