Some of the public toilets in the Newquay area could be closed following a spate of vandalism that affected multiple public conveniences over the the festive period, a recent news report in the local media has been able to reveal.

Newquay Town Council said repair works are currently being organised and that the council is monitoring all of its facilities closely to try to identify and catch the culprits.

Residents are being urged to remain vigilant and report any incidents to both Newquay Town Council and the police to ensure that the facilities remain sustainable and operational.

Andy Hannan, chairman of the committee overseeing the operation of the toilets, said: “The council has worked extremely hard to secure toilet facilities for the town so we are obviously very disappointed to keep finding them damaged and unusable.

“The last thing we want to do is start closing facilities due to a lack of funding but if the level of vandalism continues we cannot guarantee to keep providing these services in the future on the budget available.
