A local council has embarked on a very ambitious improvement scheme targeting all public conveniences in the area, and results are already visible, with the first revamped toilet blocks being already reopened to the public.
Bath & North East Somerset Council has pledged £3.3 million to overhaul public toilets in the area, and has managed to successfully complete the improvement works at the Monmouth Street (Seven Dials) public toilets, a local news report could reveal.
The new facilities are large enough for a parent with a couple of small children and a pushchair to use together and feature high-tech controls, which means that access will be 24 hours / 7 days a week all year or the timers can be adjusted remotely to suit local needs.
The conveniences also offer access by coin entry to a private cubicle with its own hand-washing and drying facilities and built into the existing toilet buildings, disability compliant with secure, safe sharps boxes.
All of the refurbished facilities will be charged at 20p for use, in order to make the contract sustainable, which, in the end, is a good idea, especially if the facilities are maintained at the current high standards.
