A local authority has revealed plans to close down, demolish and rebuild the local public toilets in a bid to modernize them, a recent news report in the local media has been able to suggest.

A spokesperson for Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council said: “As part of ongoing works to improve Sixmilewater Park, Ballyclare’s public toilets have been closed for demolition and rebuild.

“As a temporary measure the public have been able to use the accessible toilet in Ballyclare Town Hall.

“Unfortunately, due to problems with the Northern Ireland Water sewers in the area, this toilet has been closed with immediate effect. NI Water has advised that it hopes repairs to commence at the end of October.”
