A local council has decided to shut down the two public toilets in Bo’ness after they manage to come to an agreement with town centre companies regarding the provision of alternate facilities, a recent news report in the local media has been able to reveal.

The toilets at Pier Street Bus Station and Provost Road are part of the plans now approved by Falkirk Council members for closure. Proposals to shut all loos in the Falkirk district were put forward to the council’s administration in 2015 in a bid to save £361,000 annually as part of a wider £25 million cuts agenda over the next year along with 700 job cuts.

Council leader Councillor Craig Martin said: “Public toilets will remain open until we can agree a comfort scheme with private companies or organisations. At the moment we have around nine parties who are keen to sign up, which would actually be more places for people to use which would be an enhancement.

“These schemes are working successfully in more and more places across the country such as Perth and Aberdeen. The public toilets we have at the moment will close but not until the comfort scheme is up and running.”

Charging a fee for access is the most sensible solution when it comes to public toilets’ funding, and this is exactly where Toilet Turnstiles could really puts its experience to good work.

Our toilet turnstiles are built from graded stainless steel, for easier cleaning and maintenance, and also come equipped with lockable lids to prevent unwanted access. Furthermore, the separate coin box offers very versatile mounting options, as it can be installed either in front of the turnstile, at the side or alternatively, on the wall, with the cash box at the rear.

The turnstile’s coin mechanism can be programmed for virtually any combination of coins with a secure cash box to hold them, while the additional counters for the number of entries made will enable a thorough level of control over the system’s operation.
