A local authority has recently started a review process that could see multiple public conveniences in the main town centre being shut down, a news report in the local media has revealed.

Crawley Borough Council has launched a consultation to discover the level of demand and usage of public toilets in the town centre.

A council spokeswoman said: "Council officers are looking into the need for public toilet provision and part of this is listening to local opinions from residents about facilities located along The Boulevard and Ifield Road."

Currently, the main toilets available for shoppers include those located at the back of County Mall, Ifield Road (off the High Street) and The Boulevard outside New Look and Poundland.

Cabinet Member for environmental services and sustainability, councillor Geraint Thomas, said: "Officers are looking into how the council can improve the facilities available to shoppers in the town centre. It’s important that we make the right decisions for the residents of Crawley and visitors to the town so I encourage people to fill out the questionnaire."
